Policy — draft

Editorial policy

This policy describes how content on this site is produced, dated and corrected. It also records what is not yet in place, because a policy that describes an aspiration as though it were a practice is worse than no policy.

Two kinds of statement

Durable structure is explained without a date. What an innings is, why a division exists, how aggregate scoring works, what a wild card is for — these change rarely, and dating them would imply a precision that is not meaningful.

Changeable figures — club counts, playoff field sizes, qualification places, season windows — are published only with the date they were checked and the body to confirm them against. Where a figure is under active review by the competition itself, the page says so and describes the process rather than picking a version.

Sources

Where a figure is stated, the primary source is the competition or governing body that owns it, because that is the only party able to change it. Secondary reporting is used to identify that a change has occurred, not as the final authority for the figure itself.

Pages name the source so a reader can re-check it. No page asks to be trusted on its own authority.

What this site will not do

  • Invent a fact to fill a gap. Where something could not be established, the page records the gap instead. Several pages state plainly that a date or figure is not known.
  • Publish a figure without a checked date. A number that changes is not left undated.
  • Imply verification by publishing. Republishing a page is not evidence that its facts were re-checked, and no page suggests otherwise.
  • Credit an author who has not agreed. No name appears on this site until the site owner supplies an authorised person to credit.
  • Publish forecasts, tips or speculative content of any kind.

Dates on this site

Three different dates can matter, and they are kept separate.

  • Date checked — when a changeable figure was confirmed at its source.
  • Date written — when a page was assembled.
  • Date reviewed — when a second party independently examined the page. No page displays a review date, because no review has taken place.

Corrections

Errors can be reported through the contact page. A correction is applied by amending the page and, where a figure has changed, updating its checked date to the date of the correction. There is no separate public corrections log at present, and none is claimed.

Advertising and editorial independence

No advertiser has any influence over what this site publishes. There is no sponsored content, no paid placement, no affiliate link and no advertorial. Reserved advertisement areas are visually distinct, labelled, and carry no third-party script. The advertising disclosure records the current position in full.

Policy prepared
19 September 2026, describing practice as it currently stands.
Independent editorial review
Outstanding. No second party has reviewed any page. This policy describes a process that has been applied, not a process that has been audited.
Named editor
Not established. No editor or author is named, because none has been authorised for publication.
Update schedule
None agreed, and none published. No cadence is promised.
